Announcing a New Working Paper Series on the Future of Work

This past spring, the LMI Institute and Projections Managing Partnership (PMP) convened a group of workforce and economic development scholars to discuss what they see as the most important trends and challenges we are facing when looking at the future of work in our country, as well as to provide recommendations for how public LMI data systems, particularly state projections analysts, can plan for and address these trends.

These conversations produced four working papers, which we are pleased to release to the public. We will highlight one paper in each of the following LMI Insider newsletters.

This week, we are proud to feature Tools for Regional Competitiveness to Meet an Era of Labor Scarcity by Christophe Combemale, Assistant Research Professor at Carnegie Mellon University. In this paper, Professor Combemale considers how regions can compete in attracting and developing a skilled workforce during a time of rapid technological innovation and ongoing labor shortages. Click the link below to hear Professor Combemale talk about his research, and to read the paper.

Washington Labor Market and Credential Data Dashboard

Whether you are looking for a new job, considering a mid-career transition, or evaluating your education options, labor market information can be a valuable part of an informed decision-making process. This data dashboard combines three critical elements that factor into an informed career decision: anticipated growth in your area, typical education level needed, and average wage earned in that occupation.

Does your state have a projections dashboard?

Share it with us! We’d love to see it and feature it in the monthly LMI Insider.
