The Institute awards program recognizes state LMI agency activities that serve as exemplary examples of the importance and effectiveness LMI data and staff expertise play in critical policy areas.

The awards will be presented at the 2023 C2ER/LMI Institute Annual Conference

June 12 – 15 in Detroit, MI.

One award will be offered for each of the following categories:

  • Best State LMI Product or Collaboration for Regional Resilience
  • Best State LMI Product or Collaboration Supporting Workforce System or Jobseekers
  • Best State LMI Focus on Equity and Inclusion

Judges will review the nominated research or analysis for:

  1. Contribution to workforce labor market information research
  2. Innovative approach or implementation
  3. Unique approach to using researchers as part a larger program implementation team
  4. Response to customer or community needs
  5. Economic or other benefits that have resulted from implementing the project
  6. Quality of product or process
  7. Replicability for other LMI Institute members

Applicants should submit their nomination by Thursday, January 12, 2023.

The report was developed by the Job Quality Measurement Initiative, a collaboration between the Families and Workers Fund, Ford Foundation, Irvine Foundation, Lumina Foundation, Omidyar Network, Schmidt Futures, and the U.S. Department of Labor, along with more than 70 experts.

Alaska Economic Trends: 2022 Jobs Forecast

Alaska recovered 7,100 jobs in 2021 after losing 27,600 in 2020, with the gains spread across industries as the losses had been the year before. The industries hit hardest initially by the pandemic, such as transportation and the leisure and hospitality sector, recovered the most jobs in 2021 as bars and restaurants reopened and travel picked up.
