We are pleased to announce the launch of the Data User Insights Academy, a process and space for state LMI agencies and LMI data users to collaboratively improve LMI awareness, access, and utilization to generate insights and make decisions.

As part of the Academy, state teams made up of state LMI staff and local data users will: build relationships and identify challenges/opportunities for data access; develop insights about the best approaches to address specific obstacles to data access; and begin implementing policies and programs to improve communication and collaboration between data users and producers.

Building Equitable Pathways at the Annual Forum!

<!–
<!–

Building Equitable Pathways (BEP) is coming to the LMI Institute Annual Forum! This is the first phase of a multi-year initiative working with local workforce and education intermediaries across the US to identify how data can expand access to postsecondary and career opportunities for low income, Black and Latinx students. As part of the second phase, the LMI Institute will be working to ensure more intermediaries and other data users can access and understand state LMI.

State Opportunity Index

<!–
<!–

At the beginning of April, the Strada Foundation released the State Opportunity Index. This new report assesses each state, and the District of Columbia, on the five priority areas: Clear Outcomes, Quality Coaching, Affordability, Work-Based Learning and Employer Alignment. This report was designed to help states improve their pathways between high school and post high school opportunities, so that students can maximize the value of their education.

Maryland’s Major Employer Lists is a quick way to see the major employers in each county. The rough number of employees is listed, as well as the two-digit NAICS code of the employer. These dashboards are interactable and downloadable for research purposes. The information is also available for the entire state of Maryland, where it can be seen alphabetically or by industry.

Florida

Florida’s State Colleges Projections Portal is a tool that allows for occupational projections by regions that the state colleges serve. The occupations in that region are broken down into fastest growing, most growing, and declining or slow growing. The level of education expected for entry level positions, both in Florida and in BLS data) is also shown with the occupation.

Does your state have a projections dashboard?

Share it with us! We’d love to see it and feature it in the monthly LMI Insider.
