Wage record information provides valuable insights on employers, occupations, and workers. As many states continue to increase the data available through wage records, BLS researchers are working the front lines with states. In this session, we will learn about two states collecting occupation data and how BLS has used these data to answer 4 questions:
- When occupation reporting on wage records is voluntary, which employers voluntarily provide this information?
- How many employers respond to the OEWS Survey and also report occupations on wage records?
- When we have two sources of data on the occupational composition of the same employers, how similar are the occupations?
- When we have two sources of data on occupation-specific wages for the same employers, how similar are the wages?
