2025 Benefield Award Winner: Rachel Moskowitz

<!–
<!–
<!– <!–

The LMI Institute is proud to award the 2025 Charles Benefield Award to Rachel Moskowitz, Bureau Chief of the New Mexico Department of Workforce Services’ Economic Research and Analysis Bureau.

Everyone in the workforce and labor market information ecosystem knows Rachel and what an asset she is to the field, mentoring newer analysts and LMI directors, serving on policy councils, and speaking up for data needs. Rachel shared her love of working with data and LMI, “Providing quality data in an easy-to-understand way is very important to me, but I never forget that the data represent people. When you get down to it, our sole purpose is to help people find jobs or a better one; grow businesses; and improve the economy. Working with the LMI Institute helps reach that goal. Thanks so much to the Board of Directors for awarding me the Benefield Award!”

Thank you, Rachel! We couldn’t say it better and are proud to know you. Thank you for all you do!

If you’d like to hear more about Rachel’s experience, check out her 2021 Voices of LMI Interview!

The Intermediate R Training offered October 14th-30th is a great follow-up to the Basic R Training presented at the LMI Forum this past summer. While that class is not a prerequisite intermediate training attendees should have existing knowledge/experience in R. The curriculum will feature Census and BLS data as well as easy ways to incorporate their data into your code using APIs, more advanced programming concepts, and how to create standardized reports and dashboards directly in R.

The Basic LMI Analyst Training, offered October 17th and 18th, the most popular course we offer, provides an introduction to LMI and analytical methods that support state and regional workforce development strategies. While there is no prerequisite for this course, familiarity with Excel formulas and functions is recommended.

<!–

Applied Economic and Fiscal Impact Analysis, offered October 24th and 25th, builds the technical and analytical capacities that researchers need to better understand the economic and fiscal consequences of their projects and programs. While there is no prerequisite to the course, a knowledge of impact analysis is recommended.

New York

<!–
<!–

New York’s Self Sufficiency Earnings Estimator calculates the living wage for an individual or family based on size and geographic location in the state. It allows you to set family size and the age of any children within brackets (infants, preschool, school, teens). From there you can explore which careers pay a living wage or higher in specific counties. This dashboard is easily readable and provides a mix of easy-to-navigate tables and maps.

Texas

<!–
<!–

Texas maintains lots of up-to-date information on the state of the childcare workforce. This includes a breakdown of the number of children and families in the childcare system, monthly provider reports, yearly reports on the cost of quality of childcare, and more. It is a treasure trove of data that is well worth exploring.

Does your state have a projections dashboard?

Share it with us! We’d love to see it and feature it in the monthly LMI Insider.
