2021 Annual Forum Call for Proposals

The LMI Institute is soliciting proposals for the next annual forum, which will be held virtually June 7 – 11, 2021. The theme this year is The Great Pivot: Reinvention for Recovery and Resilience. We are interested in hearing how your organization and research have responded to the impacts and implications of COVID-19 and how we can prepare ourselves to better weather future events.

Content and presentations from practitioners are a key component to the success of our conference. They enable our attendees to share, learn, converse, and interact with one another on topics of mutual interest and compare research methods, data collection practices, visualization tools, and lessons learned in the field.

We have extended the deadline and invite members and non-members to submit session proposals by Friday, November 13, 2020.

U.S. Census Expands Post-Secondary Employment Outcomes Data

Post-Secondary Employment Outcomes (PSEO) is an experimental data product produced by linking educational transcripts of graduates from select postsecondary institutions in the United States to Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) data. This provides important new insights into earnings results and employment flows for recent college graduates. Earnings outcomes for graduates are available by degree field, degree level, and graduation cohort for one, five, and 10 years after graduation. Employment flows counts graduates by geographic location and industry. PSEO data is now available for Colorado, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wisconsin. The Post-Secondary Employment Outcomes Explorer tool is available to view, click here.

Innovative public-use datasets like PSEO would not be possible without the hard work of state LMI shops and the cooperation of states. The LEHD program combines federal, state, and Census Bureau data on employers and employees under the Local Employment Dynamics (LED) Partnership. States agree to share Unemployment Insurance earnings data and the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) data with the Census Bureau. As the PSEO example shows, the LED Partnership works to fill critical data gaps and provide indicators needed by state and local leaders to make better informed decisions.

The LMI Institute supports the efforts of the LED Partnership by hosting a monthly Local Employment Dynamics Webinar Series, in collaboration with C2ER and the U.S. Census Bureau. For the latest LED webinar offering, click here
