Congress Approves $6M Boost to BLS

<!–
<!–
<!– <!–

On March 14, 2025, Congress passed a continuing resolution that includes a $6 million increase in funding for the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The understanding is that this increase is designed to address immediate BLS funding issues, including support for the Current Population Survey (CPS). This funding will help maintain the CPS sample size and prevent reductions that could impact the quality and reliability of labor force data.

<!–
<!–

As a national survey, the CPS is the primary source of the official monthly national unemployment rate and an essential input in calculating unemployment estimates at the state level.

The LMI Institute is staying abreast of the latest developments and will keep the network updated.

Data User Insights Academy

<!–
<!–

After nine productive months, the first cohort of the Data User Insights Academy is coming to a close! Starting in July 2024, teams from six participating states have worked hard to ensure that LMI data users and producers are able to better work together, developing products and training that will help improve data access and use their state.

<!– <!–
<!–
<!–

Projects have ranged from dashboard design, to new training and credentialing opportunities for data users, as well as new ways to expand outreach. We anticipate that the seeds of collaboration planted during this Academy will continue to grow well beyond its conclusion this month.

<!–
<!–

We are thrilled to say that this is not the end of the Academy. As this first cohort wraps up, a second cohort is getting ready to kick off soon! The LMI Institute will also continue hosting Data User Roundtable webinars as well as working to make products that will help data producers and users across the LMI ecosystem. Current projects underway include a glossary of common LMI terms and more tip sheets on communicating and utilizing LMI data.

The Projections Managing Partnership (PMP) would like to express its gratitude to 2024 Board Chair, Meihui Bodane (NC) for her dedicated leadership. Washington

<!–
<!–

Washington has a labor market and credential data dashboard. This very detailed dashboard allows you to search for occupations based on the anticipated growth, education level required, typical on the job training required, and average wage earned in that occupation. Wages can be viewed not just by dollar amount, but in relation to the expected self-sufficiency wage for a household based on a selected household size.
