The Jobs and Employment Data Exchange (JEDx) is inviting state LMI agencies to attend their next virtual demonstration of the JEDx API, scheduled for August 13th from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM ET.

This demonstration will test the use of the JEDx API, developed in partnership with the HR Open Standards Consortium, to transmit simulated, standardized UI employment and wage data from employers and payroll providers directly to states, then from states to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. It will also test integrated occupational autocoding. This demonstration is part of a multi-stage pilot test program with partners from Arkansas, South Carolina, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Later stages will demonstrate the secure movement of real data as well as scale towards multi-state implementation.

JEDx is a standards-based, public-private initiative to promote the consistent sharing and use of data on jobs and employment, building on how employers already share data between HR systems and third-party application providers. JEDx is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Strada Education Foundation. To learn more about JEDx, please visit the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s JEDx website.

The US Department of Education is behind on producing their congressionally mandated vital statistical report. This report, called the Condition of Education (COE), is based on the Digest of Education Statistics from the previous year, making the data more usable for educators, researchers, and policy makers. By law this report is due June 1st each year. As of the start of last month, the Digest had only published 27 tables, compared to last year’s 270. Part 1 of the report has been published, with assurances that the rest of the statistics will be published over the course of the year. At the time of writing, Digest has not published more tables, and there has yet to be a complete Condition of Education report.

Minnesota’s College Major to Industry of Employment is a powerful dashboard that shows the industries and median hourly wages of students from different majors two, three, and four years after graduation. The tool can filter by greater fields of study, specific majors, or degree attained. For those looking for more detailed information, there is also the Graduate Employment Outcomes tool. This tool allows further sorts by year, school location, and percentage of employed graduates in the field.

Kentucky’s KYSTATS creates individual feedback reports for High Schools. The most recent feedback reports from earlier this month, provide comparative information about the high school graduates who go to college right after graduation and their grades after their first year in college. This is all done with an immense amount of demographic information allowing for some deep analysis on how individual schools are doing with their specific populations.
