Data User Insights Academy Kickoff Meeting

<!–
<!–

The LMI Institute and Projections Managing Partnership (PMP), with the support of the Employment and Training Administration (ETA), was thrilled to kickoff the first cohort of the Data User Insights Policy Academy on July 9th and 10th! Members from six state-based teams—including representatives from LMI agencies and state/local workforce systems—joined twelve LMI Institute facilitators to develop action plans for collaboratively improving LMI access and use in their state. We look forward to following their journeys as their teams work to achieve these goals and share lessons learned with each other and the larger LMI community. Keep an eye on the LMI Insider for important insights and shared resources coming out of this valuable process.

LMI Directors Meet with New BLS Commissioner, Dr. Erika McEntarfer

<!–
<!–

At the annual LMI Institute Forum in June, over 25 state LMI directors and their senior staff, along with LMI Institute, Employment and Training Administration, and Census leaders, met with the new BLS Commissioner, Dr. Erika McEntarfer. During the meeting, states shared their challenges in producing reliable, high-quality data. Chief among these are diminishing resources to fulfill BLS program requirements—funding has remained flat since 2003—and concerns around declining survey response rates. Dr. McEntarfer emphasized the vital importance of the federal-state cooperative programs and reaffirmed her commitment to maintaining strong partnerships with states. She also shared plans for addressing declining response rates, including increased utilization of web-based surveys and administrative data sources.

As states look for alternative funding sources to support labor market data production and dissemination, the LMI Institute is developing case studies of states where these efforts have been successful. If you have ideas or would like your state to be featured, please contact LMI Institute staff. We would love to hear from you!
