C2ER State Chapter Webinar Recording: Ethics and Empathy in Using Imputation to Disaggregate Data for Racial Equity

Does your dataset accurately reflect your state’s or county’s population? Data collection and processing methods have a profound impact on how we analyze and understand issues of race, ethnicity, gender, and class. Data disaggregation can help to inform and support state and local efforts to advance racial and economic equity.

To better understand communities’ policy needs and concerns, researchers and policymakers should increase data disaggregation to identify long-standing racial disparities and develop policies and programs that address those disparities. During this webinar, speakers from the Urban Institute Racial Equity Analytics Lab discussed the importance and need of disaggregated data and race-conscious policymaking, and how to approach it with ethics and empathy.
