When we talk to employers about plans to expand, workforce, or barriers to growth, their direct answers only give a flavor for the situation in our community. True context for their responses is only available when a benchmark creates a meaningful point of comparison. The comparison tells us if our community is better than, on par with, or at a disadvantage to other communities.
The goal of the Benchmarking Challenge is to set national and hopefully regional benchmarks for critical issues we discuss in business retention. Issues like workforce, employment recovery, business growth, plans to expand, growth barriers, and community issues.
