The Labor Market Information (LMI) Training Institute is a comprehensive national LMI training program whose mission is to provide training to LMI professionals and users across the United States, and to foster communication within the LMI field.
The LMI Training Institute's vision is to "provide an infrastructure to advance the art and science of Labor Market Information among all labor market information professionals and the labor market information customer community."
The LMI Training Institute provides numerous educational opportunities such as the following:
- The Basic Labor Market Information Analyst course includes information on LMI programs, and other sources of labor statistics.
- The Applied LMI training is designed around case studies that utilize the all of the numerous available LMI resources.
- Beginning and Advanced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) training centers on using GIS capabilities within an LMI environment.
- LMI for Front-line Staff training prepares state workers in the use of LMI in their daily activities. This is designed to supplement local, state training efforts.
The LMI Forum is an annual conference that allows LMI professionals and users to exchange ideas and innovative practices. The conference is designed for LMI staff and users to learn from other states and from experts in the field. Previous topics have included everything from how to build a home page and LMI marketing to legislative updates and wage and benefit surveys. State and vendor exhibits are also included.
